If you’re traveling to Washington, or simply looking for a day trip idea, than Pike Place Market is a must-stop on your trip bucket list. The market is a Pacific Northwest icon, just waiting to be discovered. Join us as Annie Nguyen takes a trip to Pike Place, sharing a guide on where to eat and what to see while strolling through the market. Here are the top 5 must-try eats in Pike Place Market.
First Stop: Snap a Picture at Ellenos Yogurt
Ellenos Yogurt is the perfect first stop before you begin your journey around the market. Try their many seasonal flavors or one of their daily staples. They offer everything from Original, Marionberry and Lemon Curd to seasonal flavors like Pumpkin and Apple Pie. They have a beautiful texture and tartness to them. I highly encourage you to grab their walk-around cups – a great bite size option!
Before going to your next stop, take a look at all of the fresh produce and smell the fresh breads that are made daily. From sourdough to fresh rolls to baguettes and pastries, there’s something for everyone. Locals stop by here on a daily basis to purchase bread to make their supper for the day.
Second Stop: A Little Cheese
Beecher’s Handmade Cheeses is a world-renowned cheesemaker and it’s locally made in Seattle, right here in Pike Place Market. Not only does the store showcase the process of making its cheese but you can get this grab-and-go delight. This is their classic Mac and Cheese. They offer plenty of other favorites as well such as grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato bisque to name a few. Make sure to grab a container of their curds while you’re there as well.
Third Stop: Chowder + Rolls
Pike Place Chowder is award-winning eatery that is an absolute must! Make sure to get there 30 minutes before the line gets massive before they open. The standard New England chowder is a must, but for more of an authentic Pacific Northwest flavor, try their Smoked Salmon Chowder – nova smoked salmon, capers, and cream cheese. Make sure to add on their lobster rolls to complete the meal.
Fourth Stop: Rachel’s Ginger Beer
Rachelโs Ginger Beer is handmade in Seattle with fresh lemons, strong roots, organic cane sugar + good water. Quench your thirst with their ten flavors (My favorites are blood orange and pink guava), cocktails on tap and soft serve. Love what you try? They offer growlers for purchase as well, and if you bring back their growlers, you’ll get a refill discount.
Last Stop: Sโmores Sundaes
Shugโs Soda Fountain is the perfect stop to treat yourself after a long day of walking around the market with some ice cream, sundaes, floats, and more. Shugโs is making magic happen! Order their popular sundae with a show stopping flaming sโmores. You can dine there or grab it to-go to enjoy the sunset at the newly remodeled Pikeโs Waterfront.
