About This Course: Everett’s 1930s Classic, Rebuilt Around Water

Legion Memorial Golf Course is the City of Everett’s par 71 on West Marine View Drive in north Everett, on a bluff above Port Gardner Bay. Go for its 1930s roots, a back nine reshaped in 2019 by a city stormwater project that added and enlarged ponds and built four new holes, and views the course lists as the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, Mount Baker, the Snohomish River and the Cascades.

The City of Everett owns and maintains the course, and Premier Golf Centers manages it. Five sets of tees stretch it from 4,439 to 6,603 yards, the Greenside Grill looks out on the 18th green, and the peak weekend reference fee for 18 holes is $49 before the $3 facility fee and taxes.

Course Overview

The course calls itself a Pacific Northwest tradition since 1933 (The Herald dated it to 1934) and was remodeled in 1998 and 2019. The 2019 work was part of a city stormwater detention project to ease flooding in Everett’s northwest neighborhood: a new pond went in between two holes, the existing ponds near two greens were enlarged, an old par 5 was split into the new 12th and 13th holes, and two more holes were remodeled into the new 14th and 15th. The nines were flipped, the old 9th hole left the routing, and par dropped from 72 to 71. Architect Todd Schoeder designed the new holes, which opened on August 16, 2019, after weather pushed the work back a year. The Herald put the cost at about $4 million.

The result is a par 71 with four par 3s, three par 5s and eleven par 4s. The front nine is the shorter side at 3,184 yards and par 35, with only one par 5, while the back nine runs 3,419 yards and par 36 and holds the other two. Four par 4s measure 404 to 436 yards from the Blue tees. The pace goal is four to four and a half hours.

• Hole 1, 436 yards, par 4: One of the two longest par 4s, right out of the gate.
• Hole 7, 399 yards, par 4: The number 2 handicap hole.
• Hole 9, 513 yards, par 5: The only par 5 on the front nine and the number 4 handicap.
• Hole 13, 254 yards, par 3: Split from an old par 5 in 2019, with the new 12th, and the longest par 3 on the course. The Herald described the newly enlarged pond next to its green.
• Hole 14, 428 yards, par 4: Rebuilt in 2019 and the number 5 handicap.
• Hole 15, 543 yards, par 5: The longest hole on the course and the number 1 handicap.
• Hole 18, 523 yards, par 5: The number 3 handicap closes the round, finishing in view of the Greenside Grill.

Amenities and Practice

The clubhouse golf shop sells apparel and equipment and offers rental clubs, USGA handicap service and custom club fitting with club purchases. It opens about 15 minutes before the first tee time and closes at dusk, when all carts must be in.

Private lessons with General Manager and Head Professional Shayne Day are $90 an hour or $55 a half hour, $65 and $40 for juniors, with lower assistant pro rates and five lesson series. Power carts are $19 per rider for 18 holes and $14 for 9, a single rider cart is $30 with tax, pull carts are $9, Tempo Walk carts are $16 for 18 holes and $11 for 9, and rental clubs are $25 standard or $40 premium.

Food and Drink

The Greenside Grill serves a traditional menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads, baskets, hot dogs and all day breakfast, with an outdoor patio, large screen TVs and views of the practice green, 18th green and 1st tee. Order takeout at the turn at 425-610-2072. Off season hours vary. The banquet room holds about 150 guests, with a full bar for events. Outside alcohol and personal coolers are not allowed.

Rates, Tee Times and Local Tips

These are the 2026 peak season reference rates, posted for March 1 through October 31, 2026, read from the course’s rate page on October 4. Weekdays, 18 holes are $44, 9 holes $36, early bird $36, twilight $36, super twilight $26, and seniors 60 and over and military $37. Weekends and holidays, 18 holes are $49, 9 holes $39, twilight $39 and super twilight $26. Juniors 8 to 18 pay $23 on weekdays and on weekends after noon. Dynamic pricing can move the price you book with demand, and every green fee adds a $3 Golf Facility Improvement Fee, sales tax and the city admissions tax.

Winter reference rates run November 1, 2026 through February 28, 2027: 18 holes $41 on weekdays and $44 on weekends, and 9 holes $33 and $34.

How to Score Here

• Make your score on the front nine. It is par 35 with just one par 5, and the back nine is 235 yards longer.
• On hole 13, take enough club for 254 yards from the Blue tees, or 200 from the White, and stay clear of the pond by the green.
• Play hole 15, the longest and number 1 handicap, as a three shot hole.
