ROAM Coffee + Beer

Colleen and Chad Kuehl, who founded Wander Brewing in 2014, opened ROAM on November 10, 2022 in a black and white triangular building on Washington Street that had been built as a coffee shop about 25 years earlier and had most recently been a butcher shop. The gimmick is the window: you can drive, pedal or walk up to it and order either a latte or a pint.

The coffee is Forecast, the Bellingham brand of Tony's Coffee, plus a draft cold brew made in house. The twelve taps run ten Wander beers, a cider and the cold brew, and the drinks that bridge the two sides are an Irish coffee, a spiked chai latte and beermosas. Happy hour is 4 to 7 on weekdays and all day Sunday.

Food is brought in rather than baked: pastries from Mount Bakery, croissants, scones and cinnamon rolls Friday through Sunday, breakfast burritos, and from 11 a short list of grilled cheeses and a weekly salad.

The building has high ceilings, blue tones and bare wood inside, and a beer garden outside with picnic tables on the lawn and Adirondack chairs around a firepit, where dogs are welcome. The lot is small. Hours are 7 in the morning to 8 at night Monday through Saturday and 7 to 6 on Sunday.
