Mallard Ice Cream

Mallard has been churning on Railroad Avenue since 2001, and the library now runs past seven hundred flavors. Only a couple of dozen are out on any given day. The board is updated each morning rather than in real time, and when a batch goes, it is gone.

What is on it changes constantly. Classics hold one end, Super Vanilla and Cookies and Cream and a Tony's Coffee flavor made with the roaster from down the road, while the other runs to ube, hojicha, honeybush tea, nopal and nectarine. Coconut vegan ice cream and fruit ices sit alongside.

The care shows in the details most shops never publish. Color comes from beet powder and butterfly pea flower rather than dye wherever it can, sweetening is cane sugar, honey, maple or agave, and the allergen page sets out exactly which flavors are gluten free and offers a fresh tub pulled on request to avoid cross contact.
