Pearson Air Museum

Pearson Air Museum sits at Pearson Field in Vancouver and is managed by the National Park Service as part of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Pearson Field is the oldest operating airfield in the United States, dating to a 1905 dirigible landing on the fort’s polo grounds. The collection tells the story of early flight in the Pacific Northwest, including the first aircraft flown by Leah Hing, the first Chinese American woman to earn a pilot’s license. A permanent exhibit covers World War I aviation and the Spruce Production Division, the wartime effort that milled Northwest spruce for military aircraft. Admission is free, and the museum keeps the same Tuesday through Saturday schedule as the rest of the park.
