Port Ludlow Golf Course is the golf course of The Resort at Port Ludlow, on Highland Drive in Port Ludlow. The reason to make the drive is the setting: a Robert Muir Graves layout cut through dense forest, with rolling fairways, old logging stumps and views of Hood Canal, Ludlow Bay and the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. It is an 18 hole, par 72 course that plays 6,861 yards from the Black tees.
It opened in 1975 as 27 holes and has played as 18 since 2009, using the Tide and Timber nines. The public can book tee times online, the practice range sits next to the clubhouse, and JR’s Sand Trap serves food and drinks on site.

Port Ludlow Golf Club opened in 1975, designed by Robert Muir Graves, who had already built more than 75 courses by then, and built by Dick Schmidt. It began as three nines, Tide, Timber and Trail. In 2009 Port Ludlow Associates moved to an 18 hole format after studying each nine and judged the Tide and Timber nines best suited to run together; the Trail nine is no longer maintained. By the course’s 40th anniversary in 2015 the irrigation was failing and the contours of greens and fairways had faded, so the resort began a restoration with Schmidt back as superintendent.
The resort describes a course sculpted out of dense forest so no two holes play alike, with cedar stumps rising from the water hazards and deer and eagles on the grounds. The card is balanced: four par 5s, four par 3s and ten par 4s, with 3,357 yards out and 3,504 back. The par 4s run 342 to 428 yards, so the challenge is placement more than power, while the par 5s and two long par 3s on the back nine ask for length. The old scorecard asks groups to finish in 4 hours 30 minutes.
Yardages are from the Black tees, from the course’s own scorecard. Three holes have two Black tee boxes; the 6,861 total uses the longer one.
The practice range sits beside the clubhouse and pro shop. PGA professionals teach private and group lessons covering chipping, putting, strategy and etiquette; call the pro shop at 360-437-0272 for times and prices. Jim Mancill is the PGA Head Golf Professional. Golf carts are available and must be returned 30 minutes before sunset.
