Capitol Hill, Seattle, Washington
Victrola's showcase cafe and roastery, opened in 2007 in a 1920s auto row building on East Pike Street on Capitol Hill. Free public cuppings on select Fridays at 11am, open 7am to 5pm every day.
Victrola calls this its showcase cafe and roastery, and the building is half the reason. The company's own pages say it opened here in 2007 in a classic 1920s auto row building, with the roastery, a training facility and a cupping room under the same roof. Victrola started roasting in 2003, its own story page says, four years before this room opened.
The roasting happens at this address: Victrola's own location page names it the Pike St Cafe and Roastery, and its story page says visitors here can watch the roasting process, though no review read for this entry confirms the view from the seats. On select Fridays at 11am the cafe holds free public cuppings, the company's location page says; the page does not say which Fridays, so check before planning around one.
Ownership has changed since the early days. The Madison Park Times reported in April 2014 that the founders sold Victrola to Dan Ollis, owner of Whidbey Coffee, and Daily Coffee News reported in May 2022 that Ollis was president of Vibe Coffee Group, which owns both Victrola and Whidbey Coffee and was then acquiring Seattle Coffee Works. Victrola's story page says Seattle Coffee Works joined in 2022, with the brand set to merge into Victrola in May 2024.
The company's page describes the room as light filled and lists 7am to 5pm daily. Victrola now lists seven locations, including the 15th Avenue cafe on Capitol Hill, Beacon Hill, Ballard and downtown on Third and Pine, and Pike Street is the location its own pages tie to the roastery.
