Makeworth Coffee

Sprudge, the national specialty coffee publication, named Makeworth one of eight finalists for Notable Roaster of the Year in January 2026. That is a current, dated, national recognition rather than a local poll, and it is the strongest such credential in this directory outside Camber. Corey Silversmith opened the shop on May 1, 2019, and Tim Shenkin is head roaster and co owner.

The room matches the ambition. It runs to roughly five thousand square feet across two upper levels, with original wood floors, very large windows, and a La Marzocco Strada on the bar. That is a lot of building for a cafe, and the scale is what makes it usable in a way most Bellingham shops are not.

Pastries come in from Avenue Bread and Lamination Station rather than being baked on site, which is worth knowing if the pastry case is what you came for. The coffee is the reason to be here; the food is a supporting act, and the shop is honest about that.

For anyone working, this is the pick in Bellingham. Plenty of seating, plenty of outlets, and enough room that you are not taking somebody's table by staying. The one soft spot is the closing time, reported as 3pm or 4pm depending on the source, so check it before planning a late afternoon session on North State Street.
