Cedar River Espresso

This is a stand rather than a cafe and it does not pretend otherwise. A customer put it best: no frills coffee stand, friendly barista, and a drive through for convenience. What it has instead of atmosphere is an opening time. The window is up at 4:30 AM on weekdays and it runs seven days a week, which on this stretch of SE 128th Street makes it the practical option for anyone out before the rest of the city.

The coffee is Caffe D'Arte, named independently by the shop's delivery menu and by a customer, the same Seattle roaster the Gourmet Latte stands pour. No drink is presented as the house specialty. The names on the board, Malibu Barbie, Peach Bellini Lotus, PB Fit, are the shared vocabulary of Washington espresso stands rather than anything invented here, so we are not going to hand you one and call it theirs.

Food is minimal. A street taco burrito is the one named item, alongside protein shakes, smoothies and a kids menu. There is no seating, no wifi and no patio, and none of that is a criticism of a stand built to serve a queue of cars on a corner.

Two things to know before you plan around it. The posted hours disagree between sources on when it closes, with one listing 6 PM and another closer to 5:30, so call if you are cutting it fine at the end of the day. And the business no longer maintains a website, so anything you find under its old domain is not them.
