Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington
Boon Boona's glass walled waterfront cafe on Overlook Walk, the 2024 walkway linking Pike Place Market to the waterfront. African coffees only, roasted in Renton, with skyline and Elliott Bay views and outdoor tables under the canopy, open until 8pm.
Come for the setting. This cafe sits at 1515 Western Avenue on Overlook Walk, which opened in October 2024 to connect Pike Place Market to the waterfront, and the building is a glass walled pavilion with tables under a canopy outside. Boon Boona won the space over more than 50 other proposals, and the grand opening was February 7, 2026, according to 425 Business. The company's own page promises views of the skyline and Elliott Bay, and the Great Wheel is in sight from the terrace.
Efrem Fesaha grew up in Seattle in an Eritrean family that practiced the coffee ceremony at home, and he built Boon Boona around coffee sourced only from Africa, with a stated focus on woman owned growers in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya. The roasting happens in Renton, per Seattle Met's February 2026 guide, not here. Company favorites include the Africano, Fesaha's name for an americano, and the rose cardamom latte the Seattle Times singled out in 2023.
Inside, a long counter runs under a big yellow wordmark and the company's face logo, with retail shelves of beans and stools along the windows. We could not find a published food menu for this location, so check the pastry case rather than planning a meal. The traditional coffee ceremony, with green beans pan roasted and brewed in a clay jebena, is booked at the Renton cafe, which has its own entry in this directory, and not here.
The cafe's own page lists 8am to 8pm daily, which leaves room for an evening coffee after a Market visit. Parking around the Market is paid and fills fast, so walk in from downtown or up from the waterfront. Boon Boona runs five locations in all, including Capitol Hill and the University Book Store, and this is the one built for people already walking the waterfront.
