Tacoma's self-described 253rd wave roastery, Bluebeard has been roasting sweet, balanced coffees at the corner of 6th and State since 2011 with the roaster behind the counter and a corner perch that is made for watching the neighborhood go by.
About
The 253rd wave designation is Bluebeard's shorthand for their medium roast philosophy, named after Tacoma's area code and landing between commodity coffee and the ultra light third wave with chocolate, caramel, and brown sugar notes. Drip coffee and Americanos are the workhorses of the menu, served from a space where the roasting equipment is on display behind the bar. The airy corner location at 6th and State has plenty of seating, several tables with outlets, and a window side spot that earns its reputation as one of the better people watching perches on the strip.
