The Midway

The Midway is a bakery, deli and market at 3118 Harborview Drive on the Gig Harbor waterfront, opened in July 2026 by siblings Trish Huff and Nick Hosea. Huff is a Gig Harbor native and a sommelier, and is connected to Morso Bistro; Hosea, the chef, moved back from Barcelona to open it, having cooked at Nobu and for Bobby Flay. Both went to culinary school in Seattle.

Order at the counter and take a table. Pastries, croissants and scones are baked daily, with vegan and gluten free options including a carrot cake under a tahini glaze, and the deli side runs sandwiches, soups, cured meats and cheeses and housemade salads. Sandwich names come from pop culture, so the kimchee grilled cheese arrives as the Moira Rose. There is espresso, beer and wine to take away, and a shelf of local and European jams, olives and candy.

It occupies the former Heritage Distilling tasting room at the corner of Harborview and Pioneer, a site that has held the Harbor Inn, W.B. Scott's and the Pogey Bait ice cream parlor over the years. The name honors the Midway School, the historic schoolhouse now standing at the Harbor History Museum, and the owners' late mother, who taught home economics. Hours have shifted since it opened, so check before a morning visit.
