Radnor’s Burgers & Beignets

Radnor’s is named for Radnor Pratsch, the Tacoma businessman and sailor who built Edison Square in 1919 as the RealArt Theatre, and it opened inside that building in 2024, about a century after he put it up. The Miller family run it, Alan, Rondi, Isaac and Austin, with Lewis Mageo leading the kitchen. South Sound Magazine already calls it a South Tacoma Way fixture, which is quick work for a room that new.

The burger is the argument. Beef is hand formed into balls and then smashed onto the grill under a steel press, which chars the edges and is the entire reason the style exists. They call the result the South Sound Smash Burger and the branding is not shy about it. The beignets share the name and the billing, which is an unusual pairing to commit to and the thing most people remember about the place.

It opens at 11 AM daily and runs to 9 PM most nights, later on Friday and Saturday. A second location followed in Puyallup at 211 West Stewart Avenue, a trailer parked at Firemind Brewing serving the same menu. Edison Square sits on South Tacoma Way, so this is a drive rather than a walk from downtown.
