MSM stands for Magical Sandwich Makers, and the regulars on 6th Avenue treat that as a plain statement of fact rather than a boast. From the street it looks like a mini mart, most of the floor given over to a beverage cooler and a serious wall of chips, with the deli counter at the back.
Mike's Deluxe is the sandwich that made the name: roast beef, turkey and ham with swiss and cheddar, lettuce, sprouts, onion, tomato, pickles, mustard and mayo on a French roll baked fresh that day. It won the South Sound Sandwich Showdown in 2020 against a field of Tacoma restaurants. The Deli Club runs turkey, bacon, cheddar and avocado, and there is a falafel pita for the vegetarian in the group.
Everything is made to order, so twenty minutes is normal and busy days run longer. Call ahead. Open daily from ten until seven, with a couple of tables and a small side patio.
