Kimball Coffeehouse

Kimball opened in 1989 as the Kimball Espresso Gallery, a coffee and framed art shop run by Ralph and Norma Dunn. Fran and Steve Dreiling owned it from 2007, and in 2017 the employees bought it and moved it a few blocks to its current suite on Kimball Drive after the landlord declined to renew the lease. The Dullum family has run it since; the shop's own page names Mike and Maddy Dullum, and another listing describes it as owned by sisters Madeline and Chloe Dullum.

It is a full coffeehouse rather than an espresso bar. The menu runs to breakfast sandwiches, a turkey apple cheddar melt, a crunchy Asian chicken wrap, flatbreads including one called The Meat Trio, salads, affogato and root beer floats, with rotating beers on tap and wine. Bars and cupcakes come from local bakers. Kimball does not roast; it opened serving Caffe D'Arte, and its current supplier is not published.

The Kimball Stage is what sets it apart in Gig Harbor. Open mic runs Thursday evenings with sign ups at 5:30, and Friday nights bring a booked band from 7 to 9, so the shop reopens after its daytime hours. It also hosts the pickup fridge for Harbor Cakes after the downtown grocery that carried them closed. There is outdoor seating, parking, wifi and a welcome for dogs.

Daytime hours are roughly 7 to 4 on weekdays and 8 to 3 on Saturdays, with the Thursday and Friday evening reopenings; the website itself does not publish hours.
