Hudson’s Bar and Grill

Hudson's is the restaurant inside the Heathman Lodge, the big timber and stone lodge off Greenwood Drive near the mall, and it borrows the building's whole mood: a fireplace, handcrafted wood everywhere, an open kitchen, and the kind of quiet that makes a weeknight dinner feel like a night away. The menu is Pacific Northwest American, made in house from sourced ingredients, with a wine list, local beers and cocktails to match.

Brunch is what Vancouver knows it for. It runs from eight to two every day, the Dungeness crab Benedict is the dish regulars name first, and Thursdays add bottomless mimosas. Happy hour is daily from four to six, dinner follows until ten most nights and nine on Sundays, and the covered patio hosts live music through the warm months.

Reservations through OpenTable or the front desk. Being inside a hotel means it is open when a lot of downtown is not, which is worth knowing on a holiday.
