Fusion Cafe and Lounge

Alberto Pena opened Fusion in Tacoma in 2024 and brought it across the bridge on July 14, 2025, into a 1,500 square foot storefront in the Peninsula Shopping Center, the old Thriftway anchor space between Lucky Dog Outfitters and Tokyo Teriyaki. He told Gig Harbor Now the town had been wanting a donut shop for a while, and the soft launch bore that out: the donuts sold out an hour before closing on the first day.

The donuts are the reason to go. They are made daily at the Tacoma shop and driven over each morning, with house made frostings and glazes built on real fruit. The guava filled donut and the pistachio donut are the ones the local press called out. Kolaches, croissant sandwiches and scones round out the case, and the coffee is from Dancing Goats in Olympia.

The interior is pink and white with digital menu boards. One thing to know: the Tacoma original runs a cocktail lounge in the evening, and some listings apply that to Gig Harbor, but the company's own site says cocktails are Tacoma only. Hours here are 6 to 4 on weekdays and 7 to 4 on weekends. The Chamber cut the ribbon in January 2026, and a third location on the Key Peninsula has been discussed.
