Cafe Blue

Lily Lovell and Kyle Hooper opened Cafe Blue in 2019 on 11th Street in Fairhaven. In July 2023 they told their barista Micah Jones they were selling, and he bought it at 23. The plates are still Lovell's, hand thrown ceramics, and the ritual is still the same: every customer gets a question of the day. When Cascadia Daily News profiled the shop in 2025 it counted at least ten regulars with Cafe Blue inspired tattoos.

The coffee is a custom house blend that Jones developed with Steed, the Bellingham roaster, sold in bags as Blue Dream. The food is baked in house every day and is the reason the line forms: a rotating strata or quiche, scones, biscotti, a cheddar dill biscuit that Forbes singled out in 2024, and cookies with names like the Rosamaria, oatmeal with rosemary cream, and the Bestcookie, oats, browned butter, dark chocolate and flaky salt. The Tomeggo, a tomato and arugula toast with a poached egg, is the breakfast to order, and the oat milk latte with rosemary lavender syrup is the drink.

The room is small with shared tables and limited seating, and the shop describes itself as Black, Yapese and queer owned. Open 8 to 2 daily.
