Anthony's at Point Defiance sits right on the water at the north end of Tacoma, next door to the Vashon Island ferry landing and a short walk from Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Floor to ceiling windows face Puget Sound, so the view runs from Vashon Island to Mount Rainier with the ferries and boat traffic crossing in between.
The menu is Northwest seafood first: Dungeness crab, Manila clams, wild Alaska halibut and Columbia River steelhead, alongside the New England style clam chowder the restaurant calls award winning and a crab and shrimp fettuccine. Seasonal and chef specials change through the year, and there is a weekday happy hour in the afternoon.
Anthony's began in 1973, when Budd Gould opened his first restaurant in Bellevue, and it is still a Washington family business run by his children. The company runs its own wholesale seafood operation, Anthony's Seafood Company, which works directly with fishermen. Time a meal around the ferry or a day at the zoo and the view does the rest.
