Queen Anne, Seattle, WashingtonNorthwest Region
The neighborhood bookstore at the top of Queen Anne Hill since 2013, with new fiction and nonfiction, a well stocked kids section, staff picks and a monthly store book club called QABC Reads.
Queen Anne Book Company opened on March 1, 2013, at 1811 Queen Anne Ave N, filling the space left when Queen Anne Books closed in 2012 after 15 years at the same address. Wikipedia names Janis Segress and Judy and Krijn de Jonge as founders, and when The Seattle Times profiled the shop in August 2019, Segress was manager and co owner, the de Jonges were the neighborhood investors, and three of the booksellers had worked at the old Queen Anne Books.
The store sells new books, with shelves for new fiction and nonfiction, young adults, early and middle readers and picture books, plus staff picks, bestsellers and a preorder list. In 2024 The Seattle Times called it a shop that feels a little like an island bookstore, with a well stocked kids section and a book club section for readers looking for ideas. The store's own monthly book club, QABC Reads, meets in the evening, and the store's fall 2026 calendar also lists neighborhood events such as the Queen Anne Halloween Harvest Market and Trick or Treat on the Ave. Queen Anne themed merchandise, puzzles and totes round out the gift side.
