Il Granaio

Il Granaio

Italian Restaurant Mount Vernon, WA

Il Granaio opened in 2001 inside the Old Town Grainery, a former feed and seed cooperative building in downtown Mount Vernon that the city worked into its official logo in 1998. Founder Alberto Candivi grew up in San Colombano al Lambro outside Milan, trained at a culinary academy in Carpi, and chose the Skagit Valley because its landscape reminded him of home. Bill Constantine took over in late November 2020 and says Candivi's recipes live on in the menu. The dining room keeps the building's original hardwoods, heavy wood beams, and 13 foot ceilings.

Pasta and ravioli are made in house every day, and the ravioli is the chef's daily selection. The linguine pescatore brings prawns, calamari, clams, mussels, and scallops together in a white wine tomato sauce, and the menu also carries gnocchi al Gorgonzola. Veal comes three classic ways, as marsala, piccata, or parmigiana. Save room for tiramisu made in house or handmade cannoli filled with sweet ricotta.

Il Granaio is open daily for lunch and dinner. Book a table through Resy or Toast, and call ahead for large groups. The Sunset Special, a four course dinner, runs every day until 6 p.m. except on holidays. Gluten free options and a kids menu are available, and the restaurant also offers online ordering and gift cards.
