Anacortes Food Coop

Grocery Store Anacortes, WA

The Anacortes Food Coop is a member owned grocery that began as the Woven Dream Anacortes Food Coop, incorporated in December 2015 by three high school friends, Brian Jo, Alex Pitz and Casey Bacetich. It opened on July 14, 2016, with produce and flowers set out on handcrafted tables at Jo's Tokyo Japanese Restaurant. In 2017 it moved into the old Skagit Maid Ice Cream building on Commercial Avenue, and in July 2023 it settled into a larger space in the former NAPA store.

Anyone can shop here, and membership adds voting rights and member discount days. The shelves lean on nearby farms and makers, with baked goods from Water Tank Bakery, skyr from Steensma Creamery, Dog Island Mushrooms, coffee from Moka Joe and Fidalgo Coffee, and flour from Cairnspring Mills. Local eggs, meat, cheese, honey, jams, kombucha and cider fill out the aisles. The Anacortes American reported in 2023 that for several months of the year more than 75 percent of the produce is local, and bulk options help cut packaging.

Find the store at 2403 Commercial Avenue, Suite B, with a parking lot on 24th Street. It is open seven days a week with shorter weekend hours, and closes on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. SNAP and EBT are accepted. Check the coop's website for current weekend opening times.
