Double Wired Espresso

The espresso is real but it is not the point. Double Wired runs a full Vietnamese deli menu out of a suite on SE Carr Road, and the business describes itself in its own words as selling espresso, sandwiches, Vietnamese sandwiches, bubble tea and fresh made pastries. The banh mi list runs to sixteen numbered options, from roast pork and grilled chicken through a cold cut combo, a pork roll and a vegetarian build.

The order people name most often is number fifteen, lemongrass grilled pork, with a Vietnamese iced coffee beside it. That coffee has its own priced line and goes up to thirty two ounces, and it is the drink customers single out in review after review. It is a Vietnamese cafe standard rather than something invented here, but it is unquestionably the house specialty and the reason most people make the trip.

Past the sandwiches there are crab rangoon, Vietnamese egg rolls, honey buffalo wings, grilled pork rolls and steamed pork buns, and combination plates built on noodle bowls, grilled pork, popcorn shrimp, fried rice and orange chicken. Breakfast runs on croissants, bagels and English muffins. Bubble tea smoothies, milk tea and an avocado smoothie fill out the cold side.

It sits in Suite C of a multi tenant commercial building, so the format is a walk in counter plus a drive through window rather than a hut in a parking lot, with outdoor seating and free wifi. The thing to plan around is the close: 5 PM most days and 3 PM on Sunday. This is a morning and lunch business, and turning up late on a Sunday afternoon will not work.
