BeanWater Espresso

Plenty of people meet BeanWater somewhere other than Renton. The company runs three mobile units every day and pours at Pacific Raceway in Kent, and the City of Renton describes the operation as mobile trucks, stadium stands and this stop on Sunset. One customer came looking for the permanent location after they turned up at her workplace. That is the shape of the business: the stand is the anchor and the trucks do the traveling.

The coffee is Original Pilot House Coffees, named on their own About page as locally roasted, ethically sourced, fair trade and organically certified. They sell it by the bag at the window in espresso, drip, decaf and a special edition cold brew, which is not something every stand bothers with. No single drink is presented as the house specialty, so we are not going to name one for them.

Josh and Nicole Scott started it in August 2018, after Josh left a job that was running to ninety hours a week. The name came from their eldest daughter and her friends, who called coffee bean water. A customer who met both of them at the window describes it as a husband and wife operation, which matches.

Two practical notes. BeanWater is a listed participant in the City of Renton's Bring Your Own Cup program, so a clean personal cup is welcome, though neither the city nor the business publishes what if anything comes off the price for using one. And the posted hours disagree badly between the company's own site and Google, by more than two hours at each end of the day, so call before an early start or a late finish.
