Pilchuck Drive In is the red and white roadside stand on Maple Avenue, and its sign tells you the whole menu: burgers, fish and chips, shakes. It is the unpretentious kind of place a town keeps for decades because it works, and the volume backs that up, with close to two thousand Google reviews on a stand with no dining room.
The shakes are what it is known for. Everett Herald readers voted it first place for the best milkshake in Snohomish County in the 2021 Readers' Choice awards, ahead of the whole county, and the paper named it again among the county's burger contenders in 2023. That is two separate reader votes in a region with no shortage of drive ins, and it is the clearest signal available on where to stop.
Open 10 AM to 9 PM Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 10 PM Friday and Saturday, and 11 AM to 8 PM Sunday, which is a longer evening window than almost anything else in Snohomish. It is a short drive from the historic First Street district rather than on it.
