The Wishing Rock

The Wishing Rock Garden and Home Shop at 716 Commercial Avenue is Lori Maul's third Anacortes store, opened in June 2023 across the street from her first, Classic Style and Company, and after Fidalgo Artisan Yarn and Clothing. It grew out of a love of patios, porches and garden rooms, and it is built for plant people: houseplants, bonsai, garden decor, luminaries and candles, indoor and outdoor lanterns, garden tools and locally handmade gifts.
The name comes from the beach. A wishing rock is a stone with an unbroken ring around it, and the old story says it carries good luck. Lori's husband Dan hands them out in the shop, and Jan and Riley round out the staff.
It was featured in the 2024 Best of Anacortes. Open seven days, 10 to 4:30 Tuesday through Saturday and 11 to 3 on Sunday and Monday, in the old town blocks of Commercial Avenue.
