Velvet Anchor

Velvet Anchor is a gift and home decor shop at 1015 12th Street, opened in 2024 by Kellie Andersen inside the former Anacortes Public Safety Building, the one that once held the police and fire departments. The jail cells are still downstairs. Her husband wanted the space for storage; she decided it was too cute for storage, and the shop is what came of that.

The stock is nautical and largely local: charcuterie boards from area artists, wine glasses and cocktail accessories, jewelry, cards on recycled paper and ceramic trays, arranged by someone who says the store is very much her, a mix of entertaining, dogs, wine, good decor and the 1970s.

It keeps short hours, roughly Wednesday through Saturday from 10 to 3, so check the Instagram account before driving over. Look for Suite Front A on the 12th Street side of the building.
