Adrift Restaurant

Adrift is a casual locavore restaurant at 510 Commercial Avenue in downtown Anacortes, open since the early 2000s and run by owners Kaia Matheny and Nora Lamphiear. The room is nautical without being a theme park, and the kitchen builds its menu from Skagit Valley farms and the surrounding waters: oysters, Dungeness crab, albacore tuna and grass fed beef.

The Skagit Burger is the order regulars name first, local grass fed beef on brioche with pickled red onions and a toasted garlic aioli, and the desserts and baked goods are made in house. Tripadvisor readers have ranked it the top restaurant in Anacortes, the patio has heat lamps and welcomes dogs, and there are real vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options rather than a token one.

In 2025 Matheny started an eight week culinary incubator that hands the kitchen to aspiring food entrepreneurs on the days the restaurant is closed; Good Bagels and Tasha Lee's Table both grew out of Adrift's kitchen. Open Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays.
