About
Of the two dozen Woods stores this is the one worth a detour, because of where it sits: inside Boulevard Park at the foot of South Hill, in a building that once housed a lumber mill turbine and later a community college pottery studio, renovated by Woods in 2007 under a long lease with the city. A two sided fireplace faces the water on one side and the room on the other, the patio looks straight across Bellingham Bay, and Taylor Dock and the overwater boardwalk start a few steps away, with the South Bay Trail running to downtown one way and Fairhaven the other. It was also the first Woods with a private meeting room, seating up to a dozen. Same house roasted coffee and scratch baked pastries as every Woods, at the best table in the chain. Hours run with the season here, later on summer evenings.
