Scott Cowan is the founder and editor of Explore Washington State, a Washington travel guide covering destinations, state parks, hiking trails, road trips, and local experiences across all corners of the state. He launched the site in 2017 under T212 Media LLC and has been building it as a curated resource for residents and visitors who want to experience Washington on their own terms.
A lifelong resident of Washington, Scott grew up in Tacoma and spent his formative years at Central Washington University in Ellensburg before his professional life took him through Olympia, Seattle, and Tacoma. Deciding that the traffic on the west side was not worth it, he moved with his family to Wenatchee, where they are settling in and finding that there is life after the daily commute.
Scott also hosts the Exploring Washington State podcast. His approach to the site is curatorial: some content comes from personal visits and local knowledge built up over decades of living across multiple regions of the state, and some comes from thorough research. Either way, the goal is the same: give you the most useful and honest guide to experiencing Washington.
