Argonaut Coffee and Biscuits

Argonaut Coffee and Biscuits opened on August 6, 2021, in the front of the Syndicate Smith architecture office building on Highway 2, and it carries a Leavenworth coffee name with a longer story. Owners Lindsey and Noah Dahlstrom, who came over from Seattle, opened Argo Bar, an 80 square foot sidewalk cafe on Front Street, in 2014 and closed it in May 2022 to focus here.

The espresso is Blue Star, from Blue Star Coffee Roasters in Twisp, which won America's Best Espresso at Seattle Coffee Fest in 2012. The house drinks carry their own names: For the bees with lavender and honey, the Medici Mocha, Namaste with turmeric and honey, and a Cinnamon Horchata, with Rishi on the tea side.

The biscuits are the point. They come plain with preserves and butter or savory with butter and Maldon salt, and the Breakfast Sandwich stacks a house made egg patty, ham, Tillamook cheddar, organic arugula and sriracha maple mayo on Bosket Bread's Rustic Bun, with a biscuit swap on offer. When the cafe opened here in 2021, its bigger kitchen let it run more batches through the oven over the day. Hipster Toast, galettes, muffins, cookies, a house granola parfait and Dan's Life Saving Granola Bars fill out the case.

It is open 7am to 2pm every day, and the kitchen stops at 1pm. The menu notes that gratuity is not expected because staff are paid a percentage of daily sales. The same owners now also run Lupine Market and Cafe up Icicle Road by Sleeping Lady, and a 2021 report noted plenty of parking beside the WSDOT lot next door. There is a patio, and dogs are welcome on it, so it works as a stop with a dog along for the trip.
