Tugboat Annie’s

The room upstairs at West Bay Marina buried three restaurants before this one. Tug's did white tablecloths until a suspicious fire the day after Christmas in 1993, and took two years to rebuild. Captain Ron's lasted eighteen months. Cactus on the Bay, a tapas place, managed a year. Then the space sat empty for a year and a half.

Tugboat Annie's opened on the second of June 1999 and has held the view ever since. The marina dates to 1961, though the Columbus Day storm of 1981 tore the boat houses off the south end and lifted the whole structure off its pilings, so what stands is largely the rebuild.

The Barge Burger is billed as the biggest in town. Kayaks go out from the dock and there is a banquet room downstairs. The week has a shape to it, with Irish music on Wednesday evenings and, on Thursdays, a magician working table to table. A pod of orcas once went past during dinner.
