Rainier Valley Coffee Co.

This is where Rainier Valley Coffee started. Amanda Faille opened the Bonney Lake stand in June 2016 under the name Latte By The Lake and worked every shift herself for about a year and a half before she hired help. The company now runs seven locations across the South Sound, including its first sit down cafe on North Meridian in downtown Puyallup, which opened in early 2026 and got a run of local press. Bonney Lake remains a drive through with no indoor seating.

The menu is espresso drinks with a rotation of seasonal specials, and the food is sourced from local bakeries and dairies rather than made in house, with breakfast bagels among the regular offerings. The company does not name its roaster.

The reason locals know it is the schedule. The stand opens at 4 in the morning Monday through Friday, 5 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday, and stays open to 7 most nights, which makes it the earliest coffee on the Veterans Memorial Drive commute into Sumner and Puyallup. Some maps list the address as Old Sumner Buckley Highway; it is the same corner.
