Laconia Market & Cafe takes its name from Laconia, the railroad stop built at the summit of Snoqualmie Pass in 1909 and gone by 1916, when a tunnel moved the trains. Three year round Pass residents, Kirsten and Garret Van Swearingen and baker Katie Marconi, opened it in 2021 in the Pass's historic fire station, a building of about a century that it shares with an evo store and a Forest Service visitor center.
The cafe side turns out breakfast burritos, sandwiches, soups, bowls, salads and pastries, with beer and wine. The market side is the reason the Pass needed it: produce, farm fresh eggs, pantry staples and household goods, plus regional finds like Leavenworth's Yodelin Broth. There is a sunny patio for the days the Pass cooperates.
It sits across from the ski area and about 500 feet off the Pacific Crest Trail, which makes it a resupply stop for thru hikers as much as a lunch stop for skiers and I-90 drivers. It is open from 7 in the morning to 7 at night, every day of the week.
