Hartwood Cafe is a coffee shop and bakery at 202 West North Bend Way, in the downtown storefront that used to be Pioneer Coffee and later Vintage Baristas. Chef Traci Knight and her husband Damon moved in during October 2023 after running Curbside Grind, an espresso truck built out of a 1964 Ford bread delivery truck, and held a grand opening with live music in June 2024.
The baked goods are made in house. Quiches are chef's choice, the maple scones and almond horns are the customer favorites, and pies, cheesecakes, cakes and breads show up in smaller quantities. The coffee is still roasted by Pioneer Coffee, the North Bend roaster that once occupied the space.
The name comes from the White Hart, the stag of medieval legend, joined to the woods around town. The cafe has no working website, so the Facebook page is where the current hours live.
