Fiddlesticks

Fiddlesticks

Shop Yakima, WA

Fiddlesticks has been a fixture on Summitview Avenue since October 1976, at the corner of 16th Avenue on Yakima's west side. Michele Sink has owned it since April 1993, when she bought the shop from Kathy and Dick Myers. She grew up in Yakima, earned a fashion design degree from Central Washington University, and runs the store today with a staff of twelve to fifteen.

The mix is the point. Women's clothing and accessories share the floor with jewelry, purses, skin care, books, gourmet food, baby and wedding gifts and seasonal home decor, and the store is an authorized Brighton dealer for jewelry, watches and fragrance. Gift wrapping is always free, and so is the parking, which counts for something on a busy stretch of Summitview. There is no online shop, so the only way to see what just came in is to walk through the door.

The store had a hard year in 2024. An SUV came through the north entrance that April, and Fiddlesticks spent months on structural repairs before reopening on September 19. It has been back to its regular rhythm since, open Monday through Saturday and closed Sundays. For a birthday, a shower or a hostess gift that does not look like it came off a mall shelf, it is one of the easiest stops in town.
