Crow’s Nest Coffee Shoppe

On April 7, 2022 a downtown Friday Harbor fire destroyed the Crow's Nest at 70 Spring Street after ten years in business. Firefighters carried out the original sign. A GoFundMe raised more than 25,000 dollars from 195 donors, and within weeks Jon and Mary Hurley reopened in a narrow storefront farther up Spring Street, a space so slim it sits almost between two buildings. Jon Hurley is a sixth generation islander who learned the trade as a barista in Portland and Seattle.

The coffee is Espresso Vivace from Seattle. The menu is breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, scones and smoothies, with gluten free and vegan options, and the golden milk and chaga lattes are the drinks visitors tend to mention. In the summer of 2024 the shop also ran a satellite stand on the pool patio at the Earthbox Inn.

The interior is tiny with limited seating and a few seats outside. Hours are not consistently published since the move; older listings still carry the burned address, so check the shop's own page before an early ferry.
