Boehm’s Chocolates of Poulsbo

Boehm's Chocolates opened on Front Street in 1984, during Viking Fest, and you will find it behind the wall sized mural of a Viking longship that is one of the more photographed bits of downtown Poulsbo. Suzanne Suther has owned it since 1987. She came to it from the Issaquah side of the business, where she was assistant manager of the Boehm's factory store, and she now runs the Poulsbo shop in partnership with her daughter Karen.

The chocolates themselves are made at Boehm's Candy Kitchen in Issaquah, to the recipes and standards Julius Boehm set, and the Poulsbo shop is where you buy them on this side of the water. That is worth saying plainly rather than implying a kitchen out the back: what you get here is the real thing from the original maker, sold by people who have been selling it for forty years. The cases run to truffles, creams, nut clusters and seasonal boxes, with gift baskets made up in store.

Open 9:30 AM to 6 PM Monday through Thursday, 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM Friday and Saturday, and 10 AM to 6 PM Sunday. It sits in the middle of the Front Street walk, so it is an easy add to an afternoon in the Norwegian district.
