Bellewood Farms & Distillery

Farm Lynden, WA

John and Dorie Belisle began planting apple trees along the Guide Meridian in 1996, and in 2018 Eric and Julie Abel and their son Blake bought the farm, later renaming it from Bellewood Acres to Bellewood Farms. Its distillery dates to 2012 and turns the farm's own apples into spirits. Today the orchards cover 62 acres in Lynden and Ferndale, grow nearly two dozen varieties with Honeycrisp as the signature crop, and sit along Ten Mile Creek on a certified Salmon Safe farm.

From early September through October 31, visitors pick their own apples from varieties that rotate weekly, recently including Honeycrisp, Cosmic Crisp, Fuji, and Gala. Harvest season also brings a pumpkin patch, a free corn maze, tractor pulled bin rides into the orchard, and cider donuts on weekends. The Ten Mile Cafe serves breakfast and lunch, a bakery with more than a dozen pie flavors, and a bar pouring cider slushies and cocktails made with house spirits. The tasting room pours apple brandy, vodka, and gin, while the farmstore stocks fresh apples, local goods, and gifts. Ciderfest brings Northwest cideries and live music each November.

Bellewood sits at 6140 Guide Meridian, about 7 miles from Bellingham, Ferndale, and Lynden. The farm's website lists it as open Wednesday through Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday. A forested trail along Ten Mile Creek makes an easy walk after lunch.
