Aloha Açaí Cafe

Laura Malia grew up in Kailua on Oahu and came to the Pacific Northwest wanting to bring a piece of home with her. She started in 2021 with Lava Bowlz, a food truck at the Lacey Food Truck Depot and Thurston County's first açaí shop on wheels. The truck grew into two Hawaiian style cafes, one in Lacey Crossroads and this one on Harrison Avenue on Olympia's west side.

The bowl is the point. A thick blend of açaí berries goes in the bottom and fresh fruit, granola, nuts, seeds and drizzles go on top, and the build your own option lets you choose the base, the toppings and a protein boost. Everything is made with whole fruit, and the menu has vegan and gluten free choices throughout. Smoothies and handcrafted coffee drinks round it out, so it works as breakfast, a refuel after a workout, or an afternoon pick me up.

The west Olympia cafe is open Tuesday through Saturday from nine to six and Sunday from ten to four. The Lacey cafe keeps longer hours seven days a week.
