Queen Anne, Seattle, Washington
A Queen Anne neighborhood cafe on West Galer Street that opened as a Caffe Fiore and now pours Caffe Vita, the roaster founded in Queen Anne in 1995. Open 6am to 6pm every day, with a patio and the views of the upper hill a short walk away.
This corner of West Galer Street started out under another name. Caffe Vita's own location page says the cafe was originally a Caffe Fiore, and a neighbor blogging in November 2005 wrote that the new Fiore at Third Avenue West and Galer had been open about three months. Deming Maclise took control of Caffe Vita on January 1, 2020, Eater Seattle reported, and Vita's page calls this cafe his pride and joy since the day it opened.
The coffee is Caffe Vita's, a company that says it has been independent and locally owned since 1995 and roasts at three roasteries, in Seattle, Brooklyn and Phoenix. Its locations page puts the Seattle flagship roastery and cafe at 1005 East Pike Street on Capitol Hill, across town from here, and nothing on the company's pages places a roaster on Galer Street. Read this as a Vita cafe, not a roastery.
Seating is inside or on the patio, and Vita's own page pitches a to go cup for a walk to the views nearby; Kerry Park, the classic Space Needle viewpoint on West Highland Drive, is a few blocks south. The location page does not list a food menu, so ask at the counter what is in the pastry case that morning.
Hours are 6am to 6pm, seven days a week, per the Caffe Vita location page, which makes this an easy first stop on a Queen Anne morning. One older listing mentions a play corner for kids, and nothing current confirms it, so ask before you plan a family morning around it.
