About

Cafe Davina is Jessica Ness's own storefront after years of working the lower levels of Pike Place Market: as a longtime barista at Ghost Alley Espresso, as a cofounder of the Vera Project's espresso bar, and as the operator of Emerald City Tour Guides. The Pike Place Market Historical Commission approved the cafe 11 to 0 in August 2025 for a 340 square foot space in the Fairley Building, below street level, and a Pike Place Market News column by Dāvin Michael Stedman described it as recently opened at the end of September 2026.

Davina does not roast. Its 2025 business plan to the commission described a micro espresso bar reselling coffee roasted in Seattle and greater King County, sold by the cup, by the bag and online, alongside branded mugs, French presses, moka pots and apparel. A June 2026 proposal added coffee tastings and home brewing classes, plus a summer menu of drinks such as the Alabaster Lime and the Thai Tea Cloud. Which roasters are on the shelf now is not posted anywhere we found.

The cafe sits in the Down Under next to Holy Cow Records, and Stedman's column describes sunlight pouring through windows that face Western Avenue. Friends helped furnish it with pieces from Dave Ryan's Pop Art Shop, a gallery that once stood a few doors down. The sign over the door was planned as a hand painted piece by local artist Courtney Harris. The room already works as a small salon: historian Nick Setten recorded his Pike Place podcast at one of its tables, and author T.J. English met readers there to talk about his book Blood in the Desert.

Google lists hours of 8am to 5pm every day except Tuesday, when it is closed; the 2025 commission approval listed 9am to 6pm, Wednesday through Monday, so check before a late visit. Reach it from the lower Pike Street Hill Climb or by the stairs down from the Main Arcade rather than looking at street level. Ghost Alley Espresso, where Ness worked for years, is a short walk away elsewhere in the Market.
