Salty Fox Coffee

Salty Fox occupies a historic hotel building at the ferry landing, and the position is the point: there is a rear service window for passengers walking off the boat, and an outdoor patio that looks straight at the harbor and the ferry slip. The space had been The Doctor's Office and then Far North Cafe. Andrea Hampton worked eighteen months for the previous owner before buying the business in July 2016.

Baked goods are made in house daily. The dish the shop is known for is the savory pesto bowl, jasmine rice with organic eggs, basil pesto, avocado, sprouts, carrots and chia and hemp seed, with portobello and Mexican versions alongside, plus breakfast burritos and sandwiches, acai bowls, egg bites and quinoa salads, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options throughout. The chai is made in house. Local beer and wine are on the list. The shop poured Blue Star Coffee Roasters from Twisp when Bellingham Alive wrote it up in 2019; its current roaster is not published.

Inside there are tables, free wifi and a shelf of local artisan goods. Hours run 7 to 4 daily by the shop's own site, though the Chamber and other listings show a 2 close, and the shop has closed for a winter month in past years.
