One block off Leavenworth's Bavarian main drag, J5 roasts its own coffee and sells the gear to brew it. The espresso bar came second, in 2014, after the roasting operation had already built a following at the farmers market.

J5 worked backward. Jesse and Courtney started selling coffee by the pound at the Leavenworth Farmers Market, opened the 9th Street space in September 2013 for tastings and whole bean sales, and only added the espresso bar in November 2014. The roasting came first and it still shows in what they stock, because alongside the drinks the shop sells brewing equipment and accessories for people who want to make it properly at home. Worth knowing before you go: they are closed Sunday, and there is a second J5 walk up window out on Highway 2.
