Biscuit & Bean

Biscuit & Bean

Restaurant Lake Stevens, WA

Biscuit & Bean opened in downtown Lake Stevens in 2019, on Main Street next to Jay's Market, as the brother store to the Ballard original. Owners Ben Libay and Ryan Jayne, who once played together in the punk band Hades Machine, started the business in Ballard in 2014 and also run Northwest Biscuit Co., a commercial kitchen in Greenwood.

Biscuits are the point, made from scratch: buttermilk and cheddar onion, biscuits and gravy with sausage or a mushroom leek gravy, and breakfast sandwiches like the Lumberjack, stacked with Uli's bacon sausage, egg, cheese and tomato jam. House spreads include bacon jam and herbed goat cheese, the coffee comes from Seattle's Fulcrum Coffee, and frozen mini biscuits go home to bake later.

Indoor seating is limited, with covered tables on the sidewalk, and popular items can sell out, so earlier is better. It is open weekdays from 7 and weekends from 8, until 2 in the afternoon, and it handles catering and private parties. North Cove Park and the lake are a short walk away, which turns a biscuit into a morning.
