Vancouver Washington is a city located in Clark County Washington with about 175,000 residents, and it’s growing quickly. A family-friendly city with a unique style, Vancouver was voted one of “Livability.com’s Top 10 Staycation Cities” in 2011.
So, what’s so great about it?
Close to Mt. St. Helens and Mount Hood, the great outdoors aren’t far from any part of this city. Whether you’re into mountain biking, salmon fishing or hiking you’re bound to find your niche and community here. If wildlife photography or just watching animals is up your alley, there is the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, nearby. Your kids will also enjoy the over fifty different parks located in town.
Or maybe you’re not a fan of the outdoors. That’s fine, we understand, we get it. But don’t worry – there are loads of other things to do in Vancouver, and that’s why we love it.
What’s there to do?
From the Pearson Air Museum, to the Clark County Historical Museum to the Water Resources Education Center, residents here are always learning about something new.
That hasn’t still hasn’t inspired you to come for a visit? Alright, let’s give it another shot.
Why not check out Officers’ Row? This historic location features 22 homes built towards the end of the 1800s for U.S. Army officers located in the Vancouver Barracks. Walking or driving down this road will give visitors an interesting look into the past, both architecturally and historically. For more information on which homes are open to the public to tour, and for their visiting hours, make sure to stop by the Fort Vancouver Visitor Center.
Interested in getting some shopping done? Uptown Village is where you’ll find some of the best and most unique stores around. Everything from antique shops, to dining, an interior store, locally made jewelry and vintage clothing.
Another reason that we adore Vancouver is because of its local love. From the Art District filled with works from resident artists, to over a dozen different breweries and wineries, plus this amazing coffee company whose main focus is supporting other local business and providing delicious, locally roasted and sustainable coffee.
