So, you have a weekend in Spokane and you’re wondering what to do, but more importantly where to eat…? Well… lucky for you, we’re here to be your tour guide! We created the ultimate guide that gives you the framework for exactly how to spend a day or two exploring, and of course indulging, at some amazing places around Spokane. Put on your stretchy pants, make sure you’ve had your coffee, and get ready for a weekend you’ll never forget!
- Breakfast: Yards Brucheon
- Lunch: Domini Sandwiches
- Snack: Organic Smoothie at Method Juice Bar
- Dinner: Ruins
- Drinks & Shopping: Twigs Bistro & Martini Bar (River Park Square Mall)
- Dessert: The Scoop Ice Cream
- Late Night: Boombox Pizza
Spend the morning walking around Kendall Yards Business District. You can grab coffee at Paper & Cup while you wait for a table at Yards Bruncheon. Enjoy a classic breakfast, my favorite is the Irish Benedict! Hop on the Centennial Trail and walk a 3-mile loop headed east along the river. You’ll pass by River Front Park, Gonzaga University, WSU Riverpoint campus, and back through River Front Park where you can enjoy the giant red wagon, play on the life-size alphabet blocks, ride the carousel just like you did when you were little, take a gondola ride above the river, watch the roaring falls, then end up back on the west side of the Monroe Street bridge at Kendall Yards.
My gosh! Is it lunch time already? Well then, head to Domini’s for a massive sandwich made with super high quality, simple ingredients. They let their meat and bread do the talking!
Now… time to shop and enjoy Downtown Spokane! Walk to River Park Square Mall and check out the Mobius Children’s Museum, catch a movie at the cinema, or shop till you drop! My favorite stores to visit are Nordstrom, Athleta, Sephora, Banana Republic (inside the mall), then cross the street and visit Anthropologie, Free People, Lulu Lemon, and Urban Outfitters. If you’re looking for some local treasures, head to Pop Up Shop. For great souvenirs you’ll want to visit Atticus Coffee & Gifts and Boo Radley’s. If you need an afternoon pick-me-up, you’re right next to Indaba Coffee or take a quick stroll to Method Juice Cafe for the best smoothies and cold pressed juice money can buy!
To start off the evening with some fun, you’ll want to see what’s showing at the Spokane Civic Theater or who’s playing at The Bartlett.
Ruins doesn’t look like much, but just you wait. Look for the bright blue building on Monroe. While you’re on Monroe, you might want to check out some of the eclectic thrift stores. Our favorite is Boulevard Mercantile.
Make the most of your time in Spokane and stay out late. If you’re into arcade games, Garageland is your place. If you’re more into live music, dancing, and a fun scene, you’ll want to get drinks at Zola. If you want to return to the 90’s for some Capri Fun and a Bloody Mary that will knock your socks off, Boombox Pizza is your place!
Now, rest up, you’ve got another big day tomorrow!
- Breakfast: 1898 Public House (Brunch served on Saturday & Sunday only) If it’s a week day- check out Bruncheonette
- Activities: Hike at riverside state park. Hunt for huckleberries at Mt. Spokane, get up close and personal with tigers, pick fruit at green bluff.
- Lunch: Zona Blanca (for ceviche lovers) / Cochinito Taqueria (for delicious street tacos)
- Snack: Pastries & Coffee at Chaps
- Dinner & Dessert: Luna
- Drinks: Durkins Liquor Bar or Hogwash Whiskey Den.
- Night Club: Globe Bar & Kitchen
Head north to 1898 Public House for their amazing brunch complete with a Bloody Mary bar. Enjoy your meal with an amazing view of the Kalispel Golf Course! If you’re not up for the drive there, then you’d also love Bruncheonette. If you make the drive to the north side, bring your hiking boots and explore Riverside State Park. See if you can find the bowl and pitcher. If tigers are your thing, you’ll definitely want to visit Cat Tales. You can also drive to Mt. Spokane and hunt for huckleberries! If it’s the view you’re after, drive on up to the summit.
Depending on the season, you’ll want to pick fruit and visit the many farms at Greenbluff. There are activities and festivals going on each season, so visit their website for all the details.
What are you feeling like for lunch? Seafood or Mexican? If it’s seafood, try Top Chef, Chad White’s Ceviche Bar, Zona Blanca. I dream about this place regularly, and it’s so fresh it tastes like it was caught that morning! If it’s Mexican, try one of Spokane’s newer spots, Cochinito Taqueria for their variety of street tacos with handmade tortillas and authentic recipes.
If you’re looking to get your heart rate up while you’re in town, I’ll introduce you to Union Studios. Choose from Spin, TRX, and hot yoga. Be prepared to get your butt kicked, but it’s a blast! From the amazing music, flashing lights, and amazing instructors, you won’t regret it!
Relax and spend time with loved ones at Chaps. It’s as charming as it gets and if you get a chance to meet the owner, Celeste, you’ll fall in love instantly. She is amazing! They have a comfortable outdoor patio or couches and lounge chairs inside. Whatever you do, try a maple scone.
Visit Perry Street for fun shops, friendly neighborhood vibes, and some of the best beer in town at Perry Street Brewing! Check out their award-winning Session IPL (India Pale Lager). It’s light and easy to drink yet hoppy and packed with flavor!
For dinner, Luna is a Spokane gem. Their salmon is a must try! This will also give you a chance to visit the south Hill! I’d recommend a nice stroll around Manito Park and the Gaiser Conservatory before or after dinner. The South Hill neighborhoods are full of character and charm.
Two great post-dinner hangouts are Durkins Liquor Bar or Hogwash Whiskey Den. Both dimly lit with talented bartenders. Dynamic duo.
If you’re looking for a night club, Globe Bar & Kitchen has that locked down.
