Food Photography in the Studio with Kate Hailey + Profoto
Dive into the world of food and beverage photography!
In this immersive workshop, learn essential lighting techniques and setups for small, yet impactful food photography.
- Understanding of off-camera flash
- How to select modifiers for different looks
- Tips on styling, placement of light for mood and effect
- Highlights of composition, lens selection, and more.
The event will begin with an overview of the gear and concepts in studio food photography, then lead into small sets including still lifes, and beverages. Attendees will have the opportunity to rotate through each station.
This event is open to anyone with an interest in food photography, with a focus on creating essential light to building more interesting lighting setups.
Attendees should have knowledge of Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed, and white balance and how to change these on their cameras.
What to Bring
- Attendees should bring a mirrorless or DSLR camera with a hot-shoe.
- 1-2 lenses – we recommend one be a little wide in the 20-35 range, and one in the 50 – 85 range

About Kate Hailey
Kate Hailey Kate Hailey is a freelance photographer and photography educator based in the Pacific Northwest.
As a teenager, she began to learn the art of lighting, as a photo assistant. Over the years she has explored the world and found her true voice in capturing stories of people and places along the way.
Kate leads workshops, photowalks, and photo tours, focusing on topics she holds dear, from lighting and portraiture, to travel and exploring creative techniques.

In the event of a refund, Eventbrite Fees are not refundable. Eventbrite fees are only refunded if an event is canceled.
We will issue a full refund up to 4 days before the event date; or a 50% refund up to the day of the event, if however, we are able to fill the spot, we may issue a full refund. No-shows will not be refunded.
