Urban City Coffee Mountlake Terrace, Washington Day 31 of the 100 Cups of Coffee in 100 Days Project

Do You Like Coffee in the Evening?

I have a soft spot for coffee shops that are open late. I will drink coffee no matter what time of day or night. Urban City Coffee is open to 10pm and until 8pm on Sunday.  I popped in on a Saturday evening go grab a cup of coffee. Something about coffee shops in the evening is comforting to me.

Located in a suburban strip mall Urban City Coffee is part of the Fulcrum Coffee Community. Urban City opened in 1998 and in 2012 joined forces with Fulcrum. This combination is focused on helping other coffee entrepreneurs run successful cafes and coffee shops. There are three brands under the Fulcrum banner.  Urban City Coffee, Silver Cup, and Fulcrum.

Popular Coffee Shop & Good Drip Coffee.

The shop was quite busy for a Saturday evening with numerous students studying and chatting with each other over coffees. I ordered my go to drip coffee and was presented with an interesting ceramic mug with trees on it.  Sort of made me feel like I was having a cup of coffee at a friend’s kitchen table. The drip was Urban City Coffee Pike Street Blend. The coffee notes indicate that the coffee is a smoky blend with pepper, fruit, and dark chocolate notes.  It is billed as a dark roast. The coffee was at a very drinkable temperature as soon as I sat down and finished my photo shoot =) The smoky aroma was very nice.  First sip and I was nodding my head. This is a nice cup of coffee.  Good Coffee. Check.

Sandwiches, Pastries and More.

Urban City Coffee décor is living room casual meets industrial modern.  The leather sofas are comfortable and you a can drink your coffee and chat while watching the fire. There are numerous tables that you can sit at and do homework or perhaps surf the web. Wi-Fi was strong. You can sit and enjoy your coffee while you catch up on your emails from the office. If you want there is a covered outdoor seating area as well. The coffee bar area has a metal faced counter and there are exposed HVAC ducts overhead. Fairly typical look and feel.  They serve pastries, sandwiches, bagels and beer and wine if you’re hungry or not in the mood for coffee. If you don’t have time to sit and enjoy your beverage Urban City does have a drive through so you can grab your coffee to go.
