Pumphouse Coffee Company Omak, Washington Day 7 of the 100 Cups of Coffee in 100 Days Project

Pumphouse Coffee Company Omak

Opening My Eyes

The first time I visited Pumphouse Coffee Company I was going to meet with a real estate agent. I had not been to Omak in many years and I had no idea where to meet. No problem he said, “Lets meet at Pumphouse Coffee.” I arrived to find a well-maintained small shop near the big box retail stores. We had our meeting and I left. This meeting and this shop were the seeds that were planted that have grown into the 100 Cups of Coffee in 100 Days Project.

I was surprised that I was able to find a good cup of coffee in small town.  As we continue through this project you will see that not only was my thinking narrow minded. It was flat out wrong. There is great coffee in small towns throughout our state. My job now is to find them and share them with you.

Great Space To Sip Coffee

Pumphouse Coffee Company has been in business since 2003 and when I visit the shop it is always doing a brisk business. Omak sure likes good coffee. The shop is small with seating for maybe a dozen people inside. Clean, and bright which makes it a great place to grab a cup of coffee and chat with friends or like I have meet business associates. There is a nice outdoors seating area. They also have drive thru so you can get your coffee on the run.

On my last visit through Omak I stopped in for a cup of coffee. Since they serve Batdorf & Bronson coffee I knew in advance the coffee would be tasty. This time my coffee was made with an Aeropress coffee maker!  Yippee…… as I have previously mentioned Aeropress is my go-to home brewing method Temperature was spot on. As I was taking my photos for this article the aroma was making it difficult to not just sit down and start drinking. Maybe I need to buy more than one cup at a time?

Coffee and Conversation

I was able to have a nice chat with one of the friendly baristas and the owner of the shop. Both were helpful and enthusiastic about the 100 Cups Project when I started explaining what it is that I am doing. Of course, I mentioned what I am doing after the coffee was prepared. “You should have told us before” I was told.  Why? I asked, “We would have made sure it was perfect!”  No worries, it was! Batdorf & Bronson coffee made by Aeropress is a great way to have a cup of coffee.

If you are looking to grab some coffee beans, they have them for you. They also sell other coffee related items. I picked up an Omak, Washington sticker from their selection of Washington State themed stickers. Of course, pastries so that you can have a well-balanced breakfast.
